A Sentence I Needed This Week

Sometimes one sentence can become a practice for the whole week. The sentence I keep carrying is from The Gifts of Imperfection: authenticity is made of choices. Not one grand announcement. Not one public moment that proves everything. Choices. Showing up, being real, being honest, and letting our true selves be seen. That matters to me because authenticity can sound like a personality trait, as if some people naturally have it and others do not. But the way Brene Brown writes about it makes it feel more like a daily practice. A decision we return to.
For me, that practice is not only public. It is private too. It is learning to be loved without performing perfection. It is learning to say what is true in the room I am actually standing in. It is learning to build a company that reflects what I care about instead of what looks most polished from the outside. One good sentence can interrupt the old habit of performing and invite a better one.
This week, I am trying to choose honest over perfect. That feels like enough to practice.
