One Book For Paying Better Attention
July 7, 2026
I am at the beginning of reading The Gifts of Imperfection, and it is already changing how I think about authenticity. One sentence stayed with me: authenticity is a collection of choices. Showing up, being real, being honest, and letting our true selves be seen. That sounds simple until you realize how brave it can feel. I am good at being real in my private life. I am good at showing up for the people closest to me. But letting people outside my small circle see who I am is harder. I am private by nature, and I am not an influencer. Botanic Living is my first careful step toward letting people know the person and values behind the company.
That idea came to me while I was reading on the porch. I realized I had this company, but people did not really know who I was. They did not know the way home, garden, clean living, family care, books, food, and business all connect for me. Botanic Living is not about performing a life. It is about telling the truth gently enough that it can be useful. Maybe authenticity starts the same way most good things do: one honest choice at a time.
With love and intention,
Jennifer
