A Sentence I Underlined This Week
June 13, 2026
I usually have several books going at once. Some are practical. Some are reflective. Some are for the season I am in, and some are books I return to because they keep giving me language for something I am trying to understand. Lately, the idea I keep coming back to is this: Small consistent choices create extraordinary outcomes over time.
That thought has been showing up everywhere for me. In the garden. In the house. In business. In finances. In relationships. In the way a person builds trust in herself again. It is easy to want life to change all at once. It is easy to want the visible harvest, the finished room, the thriving business, the steady rhythm, the answered question. But most of the things that matter are not built that way.
They are built through repetition. A counter cleared again. A garden watered again. A note written down again. A hard decision made again. A better choice made before the old habit can take over. That is why I love books that remind me to respect the small things. Atomic Habits has shaped this season for me because it points back to the power of what we repeat. Braiding Sweetgrass has shaped this season because it teaches gratitude, stewardship, and paying attention. The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People keeps calling me back to personal responsibility and long-term thinking.
Different books. Similar thread. Pay attention to what you practice. The life you are building is being shaped by the things you repeat. That is both sobering and hopeful. It means we do not have to change everything in one dramatic moment. We can begin with one choice. One rhythm. One page. One walk through the garden before opening the laptop. One decision that protects our peace.
One small act of care that says: this is the kind of life I am building.
With love and intention,
Jennifer
