Books On My Nightstand
May 30, 2026
The books nearby right now say a lot about the season I am in. Atomic Habits. Braiding Sweetgrass. The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.
The Psychology of Money. And whatever gardening book has captured my attention. I am usually reading several books at once, depending on what I am working through. Some books are there for practical structure. Some are there for stewardship. Some are there because I need to think about money, responsibility, habits, leadership, or the kind of person I am becoming while I build.
The stack makes sense to me. Habits. Stewardship. Principles. Money. The garden. That is very much the season. I do not want the Read section of Botanic Living to be about collecting impressive titles. I want it to be about the ideas that shape a life. The books that help us pay attention. The books that help us take responsibility. The books that help us build with more clarity and less noise.
The idea I keep carrying is that small consistent choices create extraordinary outcomes over time. That idea belongs in every one of these books in some form. It belongs in the garden. It belongs in money. It belongs in homekeeping. It belongs in business. It belongs in the way confidence is built. It belongs in the way a person starts again. Books matter to me when they become useful. When they help me name something. When they give me a better question. When they shape a choice I make after I close the cover.
That is the kind of reading I want to share here. Not reading as performance. Reading as formation.
With love and intention,
Jennifer
