Hill Country Sunrise: My August Diffuser Blend
August 27, 2026
August mornings in the Hill Country have a brief softness before the heat arrives. The light moves through the trees, the air still feels possible, and for a little while the day belongs to you before it belongs to the sun. That is the feeling I wanted to bring inside.
I named this month’s diffuser blend Hill Country Sunrise, because that is exactly what it smells like: the brightness of the morning and the dry, grounded scent of the hills underneath it.
Hill Country Sunrise
- 3 drops grapefruit essential oil
- 2 drops bergamot essential oil
- 2 drops cedarwood essential oil
- 1 drop cypress essential oil
How I Use It
I add the oils to a clean water-based diffuser and let the room fill. This eight-drop formula is a starting point, not a fixed amount. I adjust it for the size of the reservoir and the room, and I always begin with less when I am trying a blend for the first time.
The grapefruit and bergamot open the space first, bright and clean like the first light over the hills. Then the cedarwood and cypress settle in underneath, warm and steady, the way the hills themselves hold the morning. It is citrus with roots.
The first time I ran it, the whole house filled with a scent we loved. It smelled like a Hill Country sunrise, bright at the top and grounded underneath, and it made the start of the day feel softer. I have reached for it all month, and I plan to keep it going as long as August asks for it.
With love and intention,
Jennifer
