Books On My Table This Month
June 22, 2026
There are always books nearby. Not always neatly stacked. Sometimes on the table. Sometimes by a chair. Sometimes open beside a notebook because I thought I would come back to a sentence and then life moved on before I did. Right now, the books closest to me are Atomic Habits, Braiding Sweetgrass, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, and whatever gardening book has captured my attention.
I tend to read several books at once depending on what I am working through. That probably says something about me. But I like the way different books can speak into different parts of a season. Atomic Habits keeps bringing me back to the power of small repeated choices. The 7 Habits keeps reminding me that character and personal responsibility matter. The Psychology of Money has shaped the way I think about financial freedom and long-term stability.
Braiding Sweetgrass keeps teaching gratitude, stewardship, and the practice of paying attention. Together, they feel less like a random stack and more like a conversation. What are you practicing? What are you building? What are you noticing? What are you responsible for? What are you stewarding? Those are the questions I keep carrying into this season. I want the Read section of Botanic Living to become more than a book list. I want it to become a library of ideas that help us build better lives in ordinary ways.
Not fear-based. Not trendy. Not detached from real life. Useful. Hopeful. Grounded. The kind of books that make you pause, look around your own home, and make one better choice. That is what I am looking for right now. Books that help me think more clearly. Books that help me live with more intention. Books that remind me that what we repeat becomes part of who we are.
With love and intention,
Jennifer
